June 2011

  1. Across the Universe, Beth Revis. Interesting YA SF.
  2. City of Fallen Angels, Cassandra Clare. Book 4 in the Mortal Instruments series, but the end sets up for another one. Intriguing mix of mortal and immortal characters, both good and bad.
  3. Doc, Mary Doria Russell. Everything you didn't know about Doc Holliday. The shootout at the OK corral is just a footnote.
  4. Dragongirl, Todd McCaffrey
  5. Dreams of Joy, Lisa See. Excellent continuation of Shanghai girls.
  6. The Eve Tree, Rachel Devenish Ford. Recommended by Green Girl, this did not disappoint.
  7. The Gallow's Bird: #4 by Camilla Läckburg.
  8. The Land of Painted Caves, Jean Auel. Repetitive. I had to slog to get through it. It helped that I watched "The Cave of Forgotten Dreams" the day before I started the book.
  9. Mystery, Jonathan Kellerman
  10. Nerd Do Well, Simon Pegg
  11. Scarecrow, Michael Connelly. This was on my Kindle for ages...finally read it on my iPhone and was not disappointed.
  12. Shanghai Girls, Lisa See. Ditto about the Kindle...with the Kindle app on iPhone I can read faster than ever. I finished Dreams of Joy before I finished this one, but it's ok to read them out of sequence.
  13. The Stonecutter, Camilla Läckburg. Great Swedish mysteries. It's a mystery how I got that umlaut in there.
  14. Thirteen Reasons Why, Jay Asher.
  15. A Turn in the Road, Debbie Macomber. Now I've forgotten what it was about, but it was nice while it lasted.
  16. When the Killing's Done, T.C. Boyle. One of today's finest writers. Set offshore on the Channel Islands. History, mystery, modern dilemmas.

Oh, is there really a continuation with the same characters as Shanghai Girls??? I didn't know that!

I'm like #47 at the library to get Scarecrow.

Wow, all the rest are new to me! My recent HUGE favorite is "Island of the Swans" by Ciji Ware.
